Teaching

My teaching connects musical understanding with creative practice, helping students develop their skills, stylistic awareness and individual musical voice.

Teaching approach

I approach music through listening, playing, analysing and creating. Whether working on guitar technique, harmony or songwriting, I encourage students to understand how musical choices work in context and to apply that understanding in their own playing.

My teaching draws on blues, jazz, rock, and Greek popular music. Improvisation, rhythmic feel, phrasing and interaction are central to this approach, alongside technique and theoretical knowledge. Lessons combine structured development with opportunities to explore students' interests and extend their musical experience.

University teaching

Since October 2024, I have been teaching at the University of Ioannina's Department of Music Studies. My teaching includes electric guitar, jazz harmony, the history of jazz, and music ensembles.

Electric guitar teaching spans different stages of undergraduate study, from foundational skills to advanced performance and final recitals. Students work on repertoire, improvisation, accompaniment and interpretation, developing the versatility needed to perform across musical settings.

In harmony and history classes, I connect concepts and historical development with recordings, analysis and practical examples. Ensemble teaching places particular emphasis on listening, shared time, arrangement and the musical responsibilities of playing together.

Dissertation supervision

I supervise undergraduate dissertations, particularly projects concerned with guitar, popular music, analysis and creative practice. I encourage students to formulate focused questions, engage critically with sources and develop clear connections between their research methods and musical interests.

Conservatoires and music schools

Alongside my university work, I have taught in conservatoires, music schools and private settings. My teaching interests include electric and acoustic guitar, fingerstyle and bottleneck techniques, improvisation, theory, harmony, musical analysis and songwriting.
